Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT)
"A Hidden Key to Health and Longevity". Results of LDT are detoxification of the body, reduction of edemas (swelling), reduction of scar tissue, deep relaxation to aid insomnia, depression, stress, loss of vitality, and loss of memory. LDT can provide relief from chronic pain and aid in the regeneration of tissue. LDT is a light touch therapy that can be performed while the client is clothed. Founded by Bruno Chikly, M.D., this technique manually aids in the direct recirculation and cleansing of lymph (fluid) flow throughout the body. The practitioner works with flat hands and simulates wave-like movements applying very gentle and subtle pressure. Therapists trained in this technique are able to detect the specific rhythm, direction, depth and quality of lymph flow anywhere in the body and are able to facilitate alternative pathways for draining body fluid stagnations. A similar technique, Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is another name you may hear in the United States and Europe.
In Europe, the stimulation of lymph flow is the fourth most commonly prescribed medical treatment whose costs are reimbursed by national medical insurances!

CranioSacral Therapy (CST)
CST is a light touch therapy that can be performed while the client is clothed. Developed by osteopathic physician John E. Upledger following extensive scientific studies, CST is a gentle, hands-one method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of the physiological body system called the craniosacral system. The system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Using soft touch the therapist can release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system. By complementing the body's natural healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventative health measure for infants to elderly for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and is effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction, including but not limited to: migraine headaches, chronic neck and back pain, motor-coordination impairments, central nervous system disorders, orthopedic problems and traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.

Myofascial Release
"Myo" refers to muscle, and "fascia" to the elastic web of connective tissue that ties your body together. Myofascial release techniques relieve tension and pain by releasing and lengthening both muscles and fascia. Techniques are usually performed without lotion and begin with the outermost layer and then work deeper. Techniques can include but are not limited to stretching the fascia with flat hands and long smooth strokes and skin rolling.

Deep Tissue Massage Deep tissue massage works the deeper muscles to release tension in the body, usually chronic tension. This is done with slow strokes and concentrated pressure on the tense area to remove toxins and loosen muscles. Deep tissue massage can result in soreness for a day or two following the massage. |

Sports Massage For the active athlete or weekend hiker, used to prevent injury and facilitate recovery should injury occur. Through specific techniques, the therapist can help you overcome an injury or reach athletic goals. This technique often involves movement and stretching as performed by the therapist. Best used pre-event, post-event, and intermittently during training. |

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) Transformative body work which facilitates change in skeletal alignment, attitude and posture. It can free holding patterns from old injuries or postural distortions and alleviate chronic or episodic pain and aid in injury rehabilitation. NMT usually entails applying the massage stroke as the client moves or is moved by the therapist. |
Visceral Manipulation/Mobilization
This therapy, which has been around for a number of centuries, involves the release of tension in the ligaments and fascia of the organs in the body. It is a gentle with the entire emphasis on making sure that the organs move and glide freely. Clients are treated either lying down or seated. Frequently the cause of the lack of motion in the organs is due to severe trauma to the body (i.e. car accidents, falls, surgery, etc.).
French osteopath, Dr. Jean-Pierre Barral was recently credited in Time Magazine as one of the next wave of alternative medicines new innovators with his research and documentation of Visceral techniques. Barral indicates that Visceral Manipulation may help with a variety of problems, from chronic back and joint pain to indigestion, infection, incontinence, migraines and even impotence and sterility. |

Oncology massage tends to integrate modalities that are light touch which can both restore health and aid in lessoning symptoms such as nausea, digestive distress, insomnia, depression, scar tissue build up, compromised organ and system vitality, low immune function, lack of appetite, exhaustion, low blood counts, PAIN, to name a few.
